No coffee for me right now. Ok, I lied. I just polished off a 16oz’er. But I can’t watch Phelps this late at night on the East Coast if I don’t. Ok, I lied again. I just love coffee. But Phelps is a good reason.
I’ve been loving life with my new iPhone. I keep finding new things to do with it and I’m continually amazed at home much technology can expand your life.
Then I had a reality check……Technology, schmechnology.

When I got home today, I brought in the dogs from their runs one by one. But, I left Nino and Paris out in the main yard to work them a little. They ended up in a tug-o-war with a toy of theirs. They pulled, they growled and made pleasure noises. Nino, being the gentleman that he is, did NOT use his weight and size to yank the toy out of Paris’ grip. Instead, he made it an even game. He SHARED.
Paris, content to be in the "fight", did her best to make it worth his while and time. She found it in herself to understand the game and how it should be played. He reciprocated with that same understanding.
It was about the joy of participating in a competition but NOT about winning the competition.
Again, it’s not always about winning. I forget that sometimes. There is a joy and simplicity in just staying within the essence of yourself.
By understanding the "reason for being", they were able to shed away the normal influences which might not have made their little game work.
I wax philosophic….it must be the peyote again.
I recently read a blog posting and one of the key things about this posting was a Four Point Plan
1. Stop pretending that you know everything
2. Talk to people who know more than you
3. Share what you learn with people who know less than you
4. Put your energy into communication, not traffic
I began a new job with a new company last week. Its a smaller company and very, very different from the corporate behemoth that I’ve been working for all these years. I’ve been really trying to be about teaching and coaching. I’ve been staying within myself and by doing so, have been able to give more of myself to my new team. I could play this out as being BMOC. Its not worth it.
So, in the dog world, do we take the time to talk to people who know more than us & are NOT in our current circle of friends? [who the frick moved my reward cheese?]
Are we truthful with ourselves and do we stop acting as if we know everything or even *anything* in order to open ourselves up completely to outside ideas?
Do you actively PUSH your knowledge to others or ONLY when you are asked?
And are you discussing/communicating versus talking AT someone?
Yeah to walking, working, talking, and extending outside of our comfort zones.
…and thank you to my dogs for showing me where the real value of life is.
