StarPukes

I’m taking half day today and my half day just happens to be at a Starbuck’s.  I’ll then head over to my mom’s for the afternoon before heading out to meet with another photographer in the area. Being an event photography sometimes takes a bit of the creative out of the images.  I’ve slowly tried [...]

In Chicago, waiting for the next leg

I should be doing this on Twitter and I just might after this post.
So, we’ve all been in airports and it seems that whenever we get off a flight, we see and feel the same things consistently.
1.  Need to go to the bathroom.  Enough said - been there, done that.
2.  The need to get food.  [...]

If only…..

I was out in Olde Towne Petersburg the other night and came across this vehicle with some pimpin’ rims. Can you imagine if I put these on my Volvo?  Man, my clients would just think I was the coolest photog in the world.

Travel Clones

When you travel frequently, you begin to notice the travel clones. I’m one of them. Blue blazer, khaki colored slacks and a white or striped shirt. The difference is if you have a stylin’ iPhone in which you can blog on the fly.

One for the Road

As I sit at Caribou Coffee [but not having a coffee], I found a pic that I really liked.A bit of over photoshopping but its all about the cinematic effect for me lately. I could have done a bit more burning and vignette application to lead the eye but I don’t have all day :-)    [...]

Travel and the Traveler

On another flight back to California.  Part of this will be business related and the balance will be to visit family.  I’m no stranger to travelling. In the past 7-8 years, I would estimate that I’m on the road about 50% of the time with major long spikes in the 80-90% range.
Although technology is wonderful, [...]

Restaurants and drinks

Oneof biggest pet peeves: when you order drinks at a restaurant and they cannot remember who ordered what. And I’m not talking about 20 people at the table; I’m talking about TWO people ordering!

Petersburg, oh Petersburg

I went on my own personal foto walk this a.m.  I jumped into the car and had my butt down in Olde Towne Petersburg, VA right before 7am.   The Farmer’s Market folks were just assembling their goods, a few people were out with their dogs, and other early morning risers were enjoying the cool morning.
I [...]

Foooootball!

Football has started.  We began with a stunning win by UCLA over the hapless and very sloppy Vols.  A connected point of interest is that the Volunteer offensive coordinator was the former head coach of the University of Richmond.
U of R was a very strong team over the last few years but not really on [...]

AND THEY WIN!!!

Although it was NOT a pretty game, I’ll take a win any day over the Vols!  And now, we are ranked at 23.But I’m not counting my chickens before they’re hatched. Last year, and two years before, the Bruins were ranked pretty high and fooling everyone into believing they were the real deal only to [...]

What I love and hate about California

Here’s what I love about being back home
+ The Weather!
+ Mexican food is sooo much better than any other part of the country EXCEPT maybe along the Texas border where its NOT been corrupted by American tastes.  {can you say NO to cheese sauce of everything???}.  My grandmother would turn over if we ever put [...]

Still in the airport……

Well, when you get to sit on your arse for three hours, you tend to find somehting to do.  I recently purchased some very nice textures from Jesh de Rox.  He has a few websites and the one I used is named Fine Art Textures
Anyhoooo…..since I didn’t have a wide variety of images on my [...]

What a way to start?!

So, I’m off on my big "going back to Cali" weekend. Going to see my parents, maybe meet up with a few friends, and then have it ALL culminate into the FOOTBALL FINALE!    Yes, that would be the Monday Night Football game between my beloved UCLA Bruins and the ugly tangerine Lady Vols of Tennessee.
But [...]

What the F…rench?

I was asked about the French Consulting sign and what I “did” to it.  Here is the original image, shot in shadow due to the mid-day sun.  I made it black and white, added a mocha flava’ to it, added som K warmth, and then dropped in a texture [rusted metal] overlay and did some [...]

NAPP Photowalk - Richmond, VA

I cannot say this was my best day of shooting. In fact, probably one of my least satisfying. BUT…I met a good group of guys and we made the last part of the session a fun one. Find below various images including the GANG as they photograph the cityscape, totally unaware that I am taking [...]

New Photography Spots and great places to go!

I would have never imagined but I found a HUGE number of photography backdrops for my new FACES endeavor. In downtown "Old Town" Petersburg, there is a large number of sites and locations with old architecture, brickwork, woodwork, etc. that would serve as the starting point for the new division of my photography business.
Some of the [...]

Cool video on long shutter speeds - Enjoy!

What the heck? Technology, Shmechnology….

No coffee for me right now. Ok, I lied. I just polished off a 16oz’er. But I can’t watch Phelps this late at night on the East Coast if I don’t. Ok, I lied again. I just love coffee. But Phelps is a good reason.
I’ve been loving life with my new iPhone. I keep finding [...]

Images from my new iPhone

Although the camera is NOT good on the iPhone, I found the pics to be acceptable for web and blogging purposes.—————Here’s my friendly neighborhood ATT dude who fixed me up with my iPhone. He’s trying to dodge my camera. Here are two pictures of the lovely Angela. She is in shadow and shade in the pics.  [...]
