ABMC Update: Agility Vid Clip

I was able to use my iPhone to capture some video of Barb Benner running her dog in Jumpers.

Please excuse the poor video quality but the iPhone software wasn’t meant to capture a Malinois this fast! Click to view! (hopefully this works since I’m sitting in the back of my car, hooked up to my iPhone as a modem…..)

As you can see from the images I have posted, I can [and do] perform a wide variety of post processing actions that make your images unique.

Diggin’ in!

A bit of texture has been added to this image to give it a more organic appearance.

And this is my favorite of the shoot. When I shot it, I was hoping to be able to capture what I needed for this final image.
The image of the small dog, waiting on the table with the color, distance and the depth of field really make me like this.
Sometimes, its luck and anticipation which makes for an enjoyable image.

All four images caught my eye because of, well, because of the infamous “eye” that dogs have. Its that look they can give which communicates so much more than a wag, a body shake, ear twitch or a bark can. Enjoy!

It could have been sheep. Instead, its the starting line.

Classic. Is that a photographer? Or a fly on the wall? I used a postprocessing technique which makes me think of antique images.

Framed for a wall. Sheltie in mocha, with keyline border. JUICY!

CVAC Agility!

Well, another successful trial has been concluded. I must say that I’m freakin’ tired out! But the great competition that I photographed made it all worthwhile. Looking over the images, I’m very happy with the level of skill that I observed. But, I do think that I must the Rain Man. Each time I’ve come to this venue, it has rained the first day and cleared up the second day. Its so bizarre to see the images from both days and note that the first day is dark, images are blurry, and over all I wasn’t very happy. The second day [today] really made a big difference.

I’m still in the process of doing my first pass on day 1, so please be patient – I’ll have those upload shortly. Here are some images from day 2 to tide you over.

Please feel free to ask questions BEFORE you purchase. Your questions might range from “zooming” or cropping to enhancing the color. Yes, I do all of that stuff before I send it off to the print lab but I do not do it BEFORE hand. Just way too many pictures to process ahead of time.

Drop me a line if you have any questions. If you do not see your dog in this group from Sunday, I probably felt the picture wasn’t worth your time.

Still sorting through the good and bad. I have finished weeding through Sunday’s pics and I think there are a few keepers. I’m posting one – not because its a great agility shot but its a great DOG photo. I tweaked the color a bit and added some additional depth of field [blur].

CVAC NADAC Trial

I’ve started to receive a few inquiry emails about the trial. Thanks for the “thank you’s” – it was my pleasure. Through conversations, some of you realized that this is not my household supporting vocation. I wish it was at times but its not. Currently, as I write, I’m on a train headed to PA as part of my “real” job but I’ve found some time to go over a few of the photos. As you review the images, you’ll realize that my style is not typical. I mean, I’ll still shoot the standard “canine over a jump”, “canine out of a tunnel”, “canine on a dog walk”, etc but I also like to shoot images that are non-standard and I like seeing images in black and white, slightly over saturated and contrasted, as well as stylized… Of course, I realize it might not be to your taste but I’ve found that many canine photographers ONLY shoot that “standard” type of photo. Obviously that puts me jeapordy of turning off a large part of the doggy enthusiast client base but since I take much of my inspiration from baby and wedding photogs, it stands to reason that this seeps into my photography.

For those that lived through that crazy weather day on Saturday, my hats off to you. I lived through it and I’m still mentally scarred. And one toe is still frozen…What a great Sunday though. Good light and if you stood in the sun, you actually felt semi-warm! But, you have to admire a well run show with lots of coordination and helpers.
