Took some time the other afternoon to shoot a friend’s bike. It was muggy and very sunny but the clouds cooperated by giving me natural soft box just when I needed it.

This is an image I shot a few months ago. I sometimes forget how as adults, we push our kids into situations in which they become warriors – even if its just for an hour or two.

This image still catches my eye and I decided to keep to my initial processing steps with just a bit of an adjustment.

I drove home today from an event. Ok, I’ll admit it was a dog show and my puppy was entered. I was driving the 2 hours back and forth each day to take care of the dogs at home while Angela was at the hotel near the show site.

Driving home, the blasted GPS took me on some crazy route. I stopped to take these two shots on a low bridge over a swamp area. I didn’t know if I would get anything good due to the overcast skies and the overabundance of greenery…..

I’ve been experimenting with a new technique that I believe creates a surreal-almost-real image quality to a photo.

Note: I just re-read this. I sound like a dip$hit. Anyway, I did the effect, I’m liking it.

As I sit at Caribou Coffee [but not having a coffee], I found a pic that I really liked.
A bit of over photoshopping but its all about the cinematic effect for me lately. I could have done a bit more burning and vignette application to lead the eye but I don’t have all day Vincent Versace is my hero!

I went on my own personal foto walk this a.m. I jumped into the car and had my butt down in Olde Towne Petersburg, VA right before 7am. The Farmer’s Market folks were just assembling their goods, a few people were out with their dogs, and other early morning risers were enjoying the cool morning.

I brought both cameras and began walking. And walking. And walking. Just over two hours later, sweaty and exhausted, I stopped. I’ve processed a few images and the balance will be part of my website front end. I’m finally getting around to putting together “Faces and Places” to go along with “A Dog’s Life”. Enjoy!

Well, when you get to sit on your arse for three hours, you tend to find somehting to do. I recently purchased some very nice textures from Jesh de Rox. He has a few websites and the one I used is named Fine Art Textures

Anyhoooo…..since I didn’t have a wide variety of images on my computer [I normally keep them on a RAID backups], I used what I had. Not sure if I like them but there’s not much inspiration in an airport cafe.

A group of Belgian Groenendael, very alert and inquisitive. Background textures included some broken concrete and an image of melting ice. Added some old time coloration to the image as well.

Here, I kept the coloration about what I would use for a print – maybe took the saturation down a hair. Added a nice fabric texture and masked around it. The texture is so strong that I had to drop the opacity and really mask out quite a bit. I almost think I left too much in it and overdid it a bit.

This is an image I recently took. I must have left it on my harddrive for some reason. Again, did a bit with the coloration, added a sand texture and a concrete texture. Masked to taste. This one is a bit burned out but again, all in the name of experimenting

Here are two pictures of the lovely Angela. She is in shadow and shade in the pics. With some Photoshop magic, I was able to dig out some details.

A Trip to Virginia Beach

On a trip to Viriginia Beach, I had an opportunity to snap a few pictures along the boardwalk. If you ever get a chance to make it down there, I highly recommend for breakfast the restaurant Pocahontas. WONDERFUL buttermilk pancakes and service was excellent.

Often during my trips to various dog events [and even those homo sapien events] I run into a great vendor. Truthfully, I am NOT a arts and crafts person but every once in a while I find an artist who really has strong work.

Works of Wonder is one of those artists. The art pieces are vibrant, colorful, and a bit whimsical. The first thing that popped into my head was that these pieces would make great and unique gifts or awards for a Specialty. Now, if you are looking for an exact breed representation, don’t look here. If you are looking for a 3D version of a watercolor painting [my opine only!], than this is it.
